The Summit County Health District offers vaccines and travel information for international travelers.

Our experienced staff will:

Review your travel itinerary and health history in detail
Assess your risks for acquiring illnesses while abroad
Make individualized recommendations for travel-related vaccines and travel medicines
Work with your schedule to complete your vaccinations before departure.
(It generally takes about two weeks to build up immunity after receiving your vaccines.)

YELLOW FEVER VACCINE

Yellow fever is a serious disease caused by the yellow fever virus and spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. It is found in certain parts of Africa and South America. Yellow fever vaccine may be required or recommended depending on the courntry you are traveling to. Visit the CDC's travel information website at www.cdc.gov/travel to learn the travel requirements for different countries.

There are guidelines/precautions to receiving the Yellow fever vaccine. If you have a serious underlying health condition and/or are over age 60, please discuss your travel itinerary with your doctor prior to receiving the Yellow fever vaccine. You may be asked to bring a letter from your doctor stating that it is okay to receive the Yellow fever vaccine.
